Ceneco power rate decreases

Teresa D. Ellera

THE electricity rate for December decreased by 69 centavos from P11.87 per kilowatt-hour to P11.18, according to Sulpicio Lagrde, general manager of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

Systems Loss also decreased by 1.27 percent from 12.03 percent down to 10.76 percent this month, Lagarde said.

Lagarde said the reduction of power rate is due to the cold weather this month, so the electric cooperative has not purchased peaking supply.

Another factor, he said, is the reduction of the price at the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market, also due to the cold weather.

On the reduction of the system's loss, Lagarde explained that Ceneco was able to change defective electric meters to new ones.

Ceneco was also able to address the problem on illegal tapping that resulted in apprehensions of several persons responsible for the illegal activities, Lagarde added.
