THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental–North has turned over potable water sanitation facilities to Entorilan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (EARBA) at Barangay San Miguel in Murcia town on Tuesday, November 20.

This is through the agency's Community-managed Potable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (CPWASH) project.

The facilities, which include rainwater collector, iron removal filter, biosand filter, and biogas digester will benefit 35 farmer-members of the association.

The project is also seen to benefit their household and other residents of the community.

Municipal Agrarian Reform Provincial Officer Antonia Figueroa said it is the responsibility of ARBs to “take care” the facilities while enjoying its benefits.

"You are very blessed to be the first organization in Murcia chosen by the DAR as a recipient of this project," she added.

For his part, DAR-Negros Occidental North Enterprise Development and Economic Support chief Teodoro Che Salido said the project is a low-cost water filtration technology from the agency.

“Aside from serving as a water source for the community, it can also be utilized as livelihood enterprise by the association,” Salido added.

For EARBA, its president Edmundo Abuana and vice president Celino Varona thanked the agency for the projects and support it has extended to the organization.

The barangay council, meanwhile, assured the farmer-beneficiaries of its support for the improvement of the project.
