THE Nazareth Farmworkers Association (Nafwa), a farmer-beneficiaries organization assisted by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North, has given financial assistance to its members recently.

The organization based in Barangay Purisima in Manapla also extended help to other agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the locality.

For DAR-Negros Occidental I, a story of generosity and goodwill continues to bloom despite the coronavirus diseases (Covid-19) pandemic that strained thousands worldwide.

The agency said the agrarian reform beneficiary organization (Arbo) has showed an inspiring act of kindness among its fellow farmers and farmworkers amid these hard and trying times.

"This socially responsible and selfless act is what we need today," it said, adding that "it reminds us that despite how scare or abundant our resources are, we must also consider and be mindful of the needs of others."

The financial assistance form part of Nafwa's gains from their dividends and quedans out of their harvest in the previous crop year.

Nafwa has a total 63 member-ARBs collectively managing the seven-hectare sugarcane plantation acquired through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp).

DAR-Negros Occidental I said it will continuously capacitate various organizations molding them to be effective, efficient and model associations of the country.

As frontliners to the production of food, farmers are also the unsung heroes as they work to deliver food straight to families' tables, it added.
