THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has distributed 500 giant bamboo propagules and 70 Abuyog sweet langka seedlings to beneficiaries from different local government units (LGUs) in the province.

The recipients also included provincial demo farms and nurseries, irrigators associations, and farmer associations.

The Capitol, in a statement, said the seedlings and propagules called “Binhi ng Pag-Unlad” were from former Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol.

It will serve as sources of planting materials for propagation and expansion under a re-greening program, which is also supported by Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu, it added.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the ceremonial turnover held at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City on Monday, December 6.

The activity was part of the Agricultural Stakeholders Forum attended by Engineer Albert Barrogo of Department of Agriculture-Western Visayas and Provincial Agriculturist Officer-In-Charge Dina Genzola, among others. (With Capitol reports)
