FARMERS and producers in Negros Occidental are getting a boost at the ongoing nine-day agro-fishery fair and exhibition initiated by the provincial government at the atrium of Robinsons Place Bacolod.

Dubbed “Locally Sourced,” the agro-fishery fair and exhibit showcases locally sourced and produced products running from October 6 to 14, 2021.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who spoke at the opening rites, said that as “a believer of the Negrense talent and product, I am certain that with proper enabling opportunities, our products can compete for both in the national and global markets.”

He also said under the Abanse Negrense Priority Development Agenda of the province, the primary goal under agriculture is to enhance the market potential of the farmers’ products so that their production will be enhanced by entrepreneurship.

“To our farmers and fisherfolk, your provincial government has your best interest at heart,” he said, adding that “we are going to do what we can to assist and empower you so that you will be able to reach your full potential, even in the thick of a pandemic.”

The fair and exhibit are in partnership with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita of the Department of Agriculture, and Robinsons Place Bacolod.

The participating producers include Abanse Negrense Market, Bing Organic Farm, Christdel's Garden, Green Organik Enterprises, Kalibutan Society Mailum Organic Village Association, Minoyan Murcia Marginal Coffee Growers Agricultural Cooperative, Primo Brotherhood Association, PURO Organics Rural Improvement Club, Women Entrepreneurs Association, RAMA Chocolate Processing, SATOCA AR Cooperative, Sir Jess, Shaira's Food Product Trading, United Mushroom Producers and Processors Association of Negros, and United Negros Island Rabbit Meat Producers.

They are selling fresh fruit and vegetables, organic food and other products, plants, and gardening essentials, among others.

Also present at the opening activity were Officer-In-Charge Provincial Agriculturist Dina Genzola, Joseph Sian of Robinsons Place Bacolod, and Gina Banowski of Mailum Organic Village Association.
