Sagay ARBs to produce muscovado

Sunnexdesk

SOME agrarian reform beneficiaries of Brgy. Campo Himoga-an in Sagay City will soon produce improved homemade muscovado to add to their household income.

The Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental-1, Department of Trade and Industry trained selected members of the SATOCA Agrarian Reform Cooperative on muscovado production with RU Foundry last May 18.

The participants produced muscovado sugar with an improved texture using a recipe of ideal sugarcane and lime ratio provided by technicians. They were also taught proper packaging to cater to their target market during the training.

In a message, Ramon Uy Sr. of RU Foundry encouraged the farmers to stick with organic farming to produce better muscovado sugar for the market.

He also urged the ARBs to practice household production of muscovado sugar for personal consumption and additional income and to upgrade the produced muscovado to other products like “kakanins” and pastries. (KBC)
