SOME 205 farmers in San Carlos City have received P441,600 worth of early planting incentives from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the distribution of checks at the Barangay Quezon Covered Court in the northern Negros Occidental city on Thursday, June 24, 2021.

The farmers are beneficiaries of the Quick Turn Around (QTA) or Early Planting Incentives Project of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

The QTA is a provincial government program that provides cash incentives to farmers engaged in early planting from April to May 2020.

It is also a support to rice requirements during the off-season thereby minimizing the impact of food shortage, especially during this coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

The provincial government has also previously distributed various agricultural equipment and supplies to the farmers of the city to support agricultural productivity.

Lacson thanked the farmers for their hard work in ensuring food security in the province.

He also urged them to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves and their families against Covid-19.

The distribution was also attended by First District Board Member Rommel Debulgado, San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo and city officials, farmer-beneficiaries, and OPA staff.
