MANILA -- Student pilot Joseph Mejares was unscathed after the Cessna plane he was driving crashed in a residential area in Laoag City on Saturday.

In a television report, the aviation security's initial investigation said strong winds could have caused the crash.

Mejares said he failed to control the plane when it was struck by strong winds.

Radio reports said the Cessna plane was owned by the All Asia Aviation Academy.

Investigation is ongoing as of this posting. (Sunnex)
