THE personnel of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) Bago City led by CENR Officer Joan Nathaniel Gerangaya conducted tree planting of native species in Espinos 2 Village, Barangay. Taculing Bacolod City on Tuesday, July 16.

The planting site is a Tree Museum (Arboretum) maintained and managed by then DENR Undersecretary Arturo T. Valdez which has presently 140 endemic naturally grown trees.

The arboretum showcases 40 species of critically endangered endemic trees. However, some of these endemic species of trees could no longer be found in our forest lands but are available and preserved in Bacolod City.

Mr. Valdez’ place is ideal for educational trips for students and researchers to have a deep appreciation of the native trees in the Philippines. (PR)
