NEWEST adopted son and honorary mayor of Bacolod City Government, Megaworld Corporation Chairman of the Board and President Andrew L. Tan, a Chinese Filipino billionaire, wishes more success for the city, its officials and people.

This significant event in the life of Mr. Tan was recognized during the 15th Bacolaodiat festival.

Notable personalities in the country were adopted by the city through Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia over the years namely the people’s champ Senator Manny Pacquiao, business tycoon Lucio Tan, and the late John Gocongwei.

Honorary Mayor Tan has expressed his sincerest gratitude to the City of Bacolod for this honor and privilege of being an adopted son and an honorary mayor of this wonderful city.

“When the honorable mayor called me several weeks ago to inform me about being the honorary mayor of Bacolod, I never had any second thoughts of accepting it,” he said.

However, he felt that he will be going to fill in a big shoe as Mayor Leonardia has done so much for the city.

He thanked the City Council of Bacolod through Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran for passing a resolution naming him as an adopted son of Bacolod.

Bacolod is the first city in the country to give him a title and honor as honorary mayor.

It is a great privilege to be part of a city that is admired as a model of other highly urbanized cities in the country in terms of governance and competitiveness.

He congratulated Mayor Leonardia for the various accolades earned by the city in the recent years.
