Fear and love find an excellent blend

FEAR and love have found an excellent blend at the recent “Kasalan ng Bayan” held at the Bacolod Government Center on February 20, 2020.

Coronavirus (Covid-19)-phobic couples in Bacolod City have exchanged “I dos” in a mass wedding organized by the City Government of Bacolod.

This mass wedding serves as a tradition that has been started by the incumbent administration a long time ago and was continued up this year.

Because of the Covid-19 scare, 220 couples used face masks even while they kissed each other, after they were pronounced as husbands and wives by Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, the administering officer.

The City Health Office has required the 220 couples to fill out Health Declaration forms, declaring their health status for the past 14 days, and their history of travel for the past 14 days.

The incumbent administration helps families establish a strong bond with the legitimate union of two individuals.

“If our families are strong, the city of Bacolod becomes strong, too,” he added.

For years now, the incumbent administration has been sponsoring mass weddings annually as part of its traditional post-Valentine’s treat to Bacolodnons.

The mass wedding in February 2013 also under Mayor Leonardia, had wed 2,013 couples.
