Talan-awon ni Maria: A place for those who want to pray, reflect

A VAST symbol of the Blessed Mother known as the "Talanawon ni Maria" is a religious site in Barangay Blumentritt in Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Many residents and Negrenses pay visits to the chapel that has a towering image of the Blessed Mother, with a sky that perfectly serves as its natural backdrop.

One can feel the holiness of the place as the image and the chapel continues to spread piousness.

The Novitiate Seminary-Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross Novitiate House, Retreat House, and Youth Center is frequented by Catholic families and small groups who would want to hear Mass, do a retreat, or do a reflection.

Now that we are in the midst of the Lenten Season, more and more people visit the site to pray.

The area is enclosed by a sugarcane farm and a pineapple plantation.

The huge image can be seen from afar that illustrates holiness magnified by the vast blue sky.

The said chapel and image were established in the area upon the donation of the 1.5-hectare property by Mr. and Mrs. Enrique Rojas and family.

His paternal grandmother Dona Clarita Delgado Rojas and their great grandparents were devotees of Mama Mary, thus, the family has dedicated the property to the Blessed Mother.

Going to the said place from Bacolod City will take you half an hour by private vehicle.

Other residents go there by riding their motorcycles or bicycles because it is just near the town proper.
