1 dead, 3 injured in shooting, stabbing incidents

AN ELDERLY man died while three others were injured in separate shooting and stabbing incidents in Negros Occidental on Saturday, February 9.

In Cauayan town, Pablito Belnas, 67, of Barangay Tuyom was shot to death by an unidentified man in the said village.

Police said the victim was operating a videoke machine at his KTV bar when the assailant fired at him four times.

He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

In Bacolod City, Reynante Laniohan, 45; his son Gear, 20, both residents of Barangay Pahanocoy; and nephew Ariel, 25, of Barangay 38 were having a drinking session when a commotion ensued with some unidentified persons in Barangay Pahanocoy.

About 15 unidentified men allegedly attacked them with a bladed weapon.

All three victims were rushed to a hospital after they sustained minor injuries.

Chief Inspector Charles Gever, head of Police Station 8, said the victims were frequently reported to the police for alarm and scandal due to their drunkenness.

Nobody was arrested and the weapon used in the crime was not recovered at the crime scene. (Christopher D. Yanson, CHMSC-Talisay intern)
