THREE adults and eight minors were injured after a lightning struck near a chapel at Barangay Maao in Bago City, Negros Occidental Tuesday, May 22 afternoon.

Police identified the adult victims as Mary Ann Bernasol, 29; Rosie Chu, 42; and Ritchie Mancia, 27.

The names of the minor-victims aged 3 to 17 were withheld.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, deputy city director for administration of Bago City Police Station, said the victims were inside a chapel attending a lecture on Flores de Mayo when it suddenly rained. Then a lightning struck near them.

"It did not directly hit the chapel, but the electric current probably flowed when it hit the ground," he added.

The rain lasted for about 30 minutes.

All victims sustained minor injuries, and were brought to Bago City District Hospital.

They are all in stable condition now, Trigue said.
