Sunnexdesk

TWO persons died after the motorcycle they were riding fell off a bridge in front of a church at Abad Bridge along Lacson extension in Barangay 40, Bacolod City, Friday morning, November 30.

Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman Jr., head of Police Station 6, identified the fatalities as Leonel Ermeo from Bago City, Negros Occidental; and Romel Baones from Cauayan town. Both were temporarily residing at Rodriguez Street in Barangay 36.

Investigation showed that Ermeo was driving the motorcycle when he reportedly hit the concrete barrier at the roadside and lost control over the vehicle. Both fell into the river.

Benoman said Baones was rescued first and was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), where he later died.

Ermeo was found dead after an hour because of drowning, he added.

Benoman said they cannot tell if both victims were under the influence of intoxicating liquor when the accident happened.

The Bacolod City Police Office reminded the public to be very careful when driving or riding a motorcycle as accidents may happen anytime or anywhere.

While travelling during night time, riders are also encouraged to use their headlights and use helmets for protection. (GYM)
