TWO persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and alleged use of fake money at Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City Monday, October 22.

Police identified the suspects as Andrew Polidario, 32, and Shem Dobouzet, 40, both residents of Villa Homes, Barangay Vista Alegre.

Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), in a press release Tuesday, October 23, said the operation stemmed from a report received by the police regarding the alleged proliferation of fake money when buying goods from a sari-sari store at Barangay Mansilingan.

Personnel of Police Station 7 recovered from the two suspects 44 pieces of fake P1,000 bill, three pieces of fake P500 bill, one piece of P100 bill, four wallets, four sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P4,000, an improvised tooter, and a vehicle.

The confiscated bank notes are subject for confirmation by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) while drug charges will be filed against them, Gabana said.

The BCPO continues to inform the public to be vigilant and report immediately any suspicious activities or persons that may be observed in their community as these lawless elements might take the MassKara celebration as an opportunity for their illegal transactions.

Both suspects are detained at Police Station 7.
