32 public schools to get cash for repair of school buildings

THE City Government of Bacolod is set to release about P22 million budget for the repair, maintenance, and improvement of 32 public school buildings in the city.

On April 4, the Local School Board (LSB) approved two resolutions for the release of P7.017 million that will be sourced from School Building, 2017 Budget, and another P15.100 million that will be sourced from Repair and Maintenance Building and other Structure, current Special Education Fund (SEF) Budget.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, chairman of LSB, said this budget will be for the public school buildings both, primary and secondary schools.

He said the Jayme Elementary School will receive P115,000 for the improvement of its school; Bacolod City National High School, P229,000; Bata National High School, P443,000; Emiliano Lizares National High School, P274,000; and Fr. Gratian Murray-AFSC IS, P196,000.

The Handumanan Elementary School II will also receive P105,000; Handumanan Elementary School-I, P188,000; Handumanan National High School, P433,000; L.Hervias National High School, P175,000; L. Medel National High School, P115,000; and MG Medalla IS, P440,000.

The Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School will get P274,000; Pagla-um Village National High School, P105,000; Sum-ag National High School, P115,000; Alangilan National High School, P115,000; J. Sayson National High School, P130,000; Mandalagan National High School, P130,000; R. Maravilla National High School, P130,000; T. Gensoli Sr. National High School, P115,000; A. Mabini Elementary School, P1.2 million, and P2 million for the new ETCS.

The CL Montelibano Elementary School will receive P1.6 million for the repair and improvement of the school; A. Bonifacio Elementary School-II, P1.6 million; ETCS II, P1.6 million; ETCS-P1.6 million; Rizal Elementary School, P1.6 million; A. Mabini Elementary School, P1.6 million; ETCS-3, P1.6 million; Vista Alegre Elementary School, P1.2 million; DA Montelibano, P1.2 million; FF Gonzaga Elementary School, P1.2 million; and MG Medalla IS, P300,000.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
