368 bus drivers test negative for drugs

A TOTAL of 368 bus drivers in Western Visayas tested negative for illegal drug use during the conduct of Oplan “Huli Week” of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in four areas in the region on April 15.

The simultaneous surprise mandatory drug test was held nationwide in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and local government units of Bacolod and Iloilo.

Of the total number, 166 were from Bacolod City and 202 were from Iloilo City.

Bus conductors, employees of bus companies, and dispatchers were also subjected to the test.

Areas where the test was conducted were at the bus terminals in Barangays 31 and Bata, and Pavia People’s Terminal and Tagbak Terminal in Iloilo.

The said test was done to ensure road safety of the motorists. (GYM)
