A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has died after drowning at the Malogo River in the town of EB Magalona.

Police identified the fatality as Jestoni Cabrillos, a resident of the town's Barangay Nanca.

EB Magalona Police chief Captain Wilfredo Benoman, Jr., said Cabrillos went missing on Wednesday. The local town's rescue group and the Philippine Coast Guard immediately initiated a search and rescue operation.

However, by Wednesday evening rescuers were forced to suspend the search as it was already dark and the river's current was dangerous.

Yesterday morning, authorities managed to locate Cabrillos' remains four meters away from where he was last seen.

Authorities are now investigating how the victim drowned.
