BACOLOD City has no admitted persons under investigation (PUI) for the coronavirus disease or Covid-19, but there are five persons under monitoring (PUM) in the city as of Thursday, February 13.

Dr. Grace Tan, spokesperson of Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force against novel coronavirus, said Thursday the five PUMs are in home quarantine.

“These are the people who had a history of travel in the identified countries with Covid-19 so they are under monitoring,” she said.

Eight persons under investigation (PUI) were earlier discharged from the city’s hospitals after they were tested negative for Covid-19.

“It means we are safe to say that Bacolod City has no coronavirus, but we have to continue our campaign to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19,” Tan said.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, chairman of the task force, also said they passed three resolutions such as requesting all the hotels to have health cards for all their guests coming in to declare their health status for the past 14 days; requesting all the airlines to submit their passenger manifest of all the connecting flights; and requesting the Department of Health (DOH) to assign an additional manpower in Bacolod City.

He said more health personnel will be assigned to various terminals, seaports and airport.

He added on Monday they will hold an orientation and education training for all the members of Barangay Health Emergency Responses Teams (BHERTS).

Moreover, Mayor Evelio Leonardia also lauded the efforts of the task force to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19.

“That is why we have to maintain it as it is. We should not stop and not be complacent. We should continue our measures to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19,” Leonardia said.

He said no time to celebrate yet because this is still an ongoing phenomenon.

The mayor also appealed to the public not to spread fake news about Covid-19.
