TWO truckloads of Vietnam rice from Cebu declared as animal feeds were intercepted by the Philippine Coast Guard sub-station in Barcelona Port, Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City, Negros Occidental Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2019.

Lt. Commander Rockcliff Buling, Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Occidental station chief, said the vehicles carrying a total of 600 sacks of imported rice were intercepted by PCG personnel during a routine inspection of Roll-on/Roll-off ships plying the Cebu- Escalante City route.

It was discovered that it was declared as animal feed in the manifesto and it has no required Customs Declaration, Buling said.

Joel Taganili of PCG- Escalante sub-station, said they also discovered that the manifesto did not contain the name of the supplier and consignee.

The wing van trucks are now in the custody of the Escalante PCG while an investigation is ongoing.
