SOME 613 security personnel of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and other law enforcement agencies were deployed Thursday, May 25, to ensure the peace and order of the Chicken Inasal Festival in Bacolod City, which will kick off Friday, May 26, until May 28.

Colonel Noel Aliño, director of BCPO, said the send-off ceremony was held at the BCPO headquarters with the representatives from various law enforcement agencies such as the Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, force multipliers and disaster response unit.

He said policemen will be deployed in the three identified festival sites: The Upper East, Manokan Country, and North Capitol Road.

“We will work as a team and we will have a skeletal deployment. Our policemen were directed to perform well to ensure the peace and order of the festival,” he added.

Aliño noted that the day-off of its personnel were also cancelled and they will be deployed to the three-day events of the city.

He also said that he will ask for more personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and that he will talk with the company commander on Friday, May 26, to secure the revelers during the entire festival.

The opening of the festival will be held on North Capitol Road at 5 p.m. There will be a San Miguel Beer tasting pairing of chef’s chicken inasal version at 6 p.m.

On May 27, there will be a barangay inasal cook-off at the Manokan Country that will be participated by at least 10 barangays; an inasal rendition or live cooking demonstration at Ayala Malls Capitol Central; and the chicken inasal festival’s awards at the SM Atrium.

On May 28, the 320-meter chicken inasal grilling station will be set up at The Upper East at 6 p.m.

Councilor Celia Matea Flor, chairperson of the City Council committee on markets, earlier said the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival is an annual event that celebrates the rich culinary heritage of the city.

She said it showcases the mouthwatering flavors of chicken inasal, a popular local dish, and highlights the vibrant culture and warm hospitality of the city.*
