AROUND 800 blood donors from Bacolod City and other parts of the province participated on Sunday, August 25, in the bloodletting component of Caraps Care at the Bata National High School.

Caraps Care, a flagship project of Abang Lingkod Partylist Representative Stephen Paduano, stands for Community Assistance, Relief and People's Care Center located in every municipality all over the province.

Other components of the program are medical assistance, scholarship and burial assistance.

"We aim to institutionalize the bloodletting activity by holding it once a year and then once every six months in the future," Paduano said.

He said that the bloods gathered during the activity are stored at the Negros First Provincial Blood Center and the Philippine National Red Cross.

Paduano also revealed that his proposed bill on setting up a dialysis center in every hospital run by the government has already passed the second reading at the committee level.

He said that Senator Grace Poe has already assured to sponsor the counterpart bill at the senate.

Paduano has sponsored a bill for a higher Philhealth coverage for dialysis patients.
