THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental's task force against African Swine Fever (ASF) seized a total of 8.5 kilos of assorted pork products at the Bacolod-Silay Airport Wednesday morning, October 2.

The seized pork products shipment has misdeclared documents, the task force reported.

It said there is a current 90-day temporary ban imposed by the Provincial Government on all pork shipments coming from Luzon.

The seized pork products were immediately ordered to be returned to their point of origin.

Aside from the 8.5 kilos of pork, the task force also confirmed processing a total of 422 kilos of beef, chicken, lamb meat and cheese products that have complete documents and were issued a landing permit.

Earlier, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, who chairs the task force, issued Executive Order 19-40 Series of 2019, which temporarily bans pork products from Luzon.

The ban was implemented days after the Department of Agriculture confirmed positive cases of ASF in Luzon, particularly at farms in Rizal and Bulacan.

Last week, the task force also confiscated and burned several kilograms of imported meat products and assorted pork siopao from Manila.
