NINE barangays in the province have been declared drug cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Nicolas Gomez, PDEA-Negros Occidental head, identified the drug-cleared barangays in the province as Barangay Camalandaan, Cauayan; Tuburan, EB Magalona; Barangay 2 and 8 in Kabankalan City; Barangay Bi-ak na Bato and Masulog, La Castellana; Barangay Amayco and Canlandog in Murcia and Barangay Maricalum, Sipalay City.

Gomez said there are now 258 barangays in the province that have been declared drug-cleared out of 601 total barangays.

Gomez said they are hoping that more barangays in the province would be drug cleared during the next deliberation of the Regional Oversight Committee.
