ANOTHER 300 kilos of "hot meat" were seized by operatives of Bacolod City’s Task Force Botagoy in a store at Libertad, Barangay 40, Bacolod City Monday morning, November 30, 2020.

Executive Assistant Ernie Pineda, cluster head on markets, said Monday the task force intensified its campaign against illegal slaughtering in various public markets when they found expired meat stored in a freezer around 11:40 a.m.

He said the confiscated "hot meat" was placed in a storage room of a store and was not displayed for sale in the meat section. It is already expired for about two months.

“We want to ensure that all meat displayed for sale are healthy and good for human consumption, so we need the cooperation of everybody here,” he added.

On Friday, about 343 kilos of "hot meat" were also seized at a store in Purok Laurel, Barangay Mansilingan.

The confiscated "hot meat" was burned and buried in the city’s slaughterhouse grounds.

Pineda urged all meat vendors to voluntarily surrender the spoiled meat or to inform the City Veterinary Office for proper disposition.
