Bacolod allocates P9.6M for typhoon victims

MORE than P9.6 million was allocated by the City Government of Bacolod to help families whose houses were destroyed by Super Typhoon Odette in December 2021, a press statement from the City said Thursday, January 27, 2022.

The Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), together with Mayor Evelio Leonardia, led the distribution of financial assistance to the first 232 recipients at the Gonzaga gym in Barangay Taculing Thursday.

The remaining 464 beneficiaries will receive their assistance Friday.

All affected families received P10, 000 each, DSSD head Pacita Tero said.

The first batch of beneficiaries are residents from Barangays Handumanan, Punta Taytay, Tangub, Pahanocoy, Alangilan, Mansilingan, Bata, Sum-ag and Montevista, as well as those coming from Barangays 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 16, 23, 26, 27, 28, 35, 36, 40 and 41.

Barangays 11, 13, 14, 31, Singcang, Banago, Mandalagan residents will be given their financial Friday morning, while those living in Alijis, Cabug, Estefania, Granada, Vista Alegre, Villamonte and Felisa will be accommodated by the DSSD in the afternoon.

Councilor Renecito Novero, Emergency Operations-Task Force executive director Em Ang, DSSD social welfare officer Wendy Castro and his staff were also present in the distribution alongside Congressional aspirant Dan Atayde. (PR)
