THE Bacolod City Council is supporting the proposed Kasambahay Day.

They approved the resolution supporting House Bill No. 6285 authored by Ilocos Norte Representative Rodolfo Farinas entitled “An act declaring January 19 of every year as a special non-working holiday for all kasambahay in the entire country to be known as “Araw ng Kasambahay” which aims to extend due recognition and appreciation to all domestic workers for their invaluable service to every family home.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, was approved during the regular session Wednesday.

Last week, the House of Representatives approved the bill on second reading, Verdeflor said.

She said in the event that the special holiday falls on a weekend, the special non-working holiday shall be observed on the Friday of that week.

Fariñas stated on the bill that domestic workers dedicate their efforts to promote the well-being of their employers.

“With the help of domestic workers, employers can have the time and luxury to work and pursue their careers and still manage to have a happy and healthy family,” he added.
