Bacolod Diocese seeks approval of trade fair

Merlinda A. Pedrosa

THE Diocese of Bacolod has sought the approval of the Bacolod City Council to allow it to conduct a trade fair at a portion of the city public plaza facing Gatuslao and Rizal Streets from October to December this year.

Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairperson of the City Council committee on laws, said Tuesday, September 7, that they already received the letter request from Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon and the letter was forwarded to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for proper disposition.

"We will wait for the recommendation of the EOC, but if I were to be asked, it should not be allowed because they might violate the health protocols because it may result in mass gathering since they are using the sidewalk at Gatuslao and Rizal Streets which intended for pedestrian and vehicles," Ramos said.

He said the funds generated from the trade will be used for the hospitalization, medicines, food and allowances of retired, sickly and elderly priests residing at St. John Marie Vianney Church in Silay City.
