THE Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) will be on full alert starting Thursday, April 18, for the observance of the Lenten season.

Assistant Jose Maria Vargas, head of the cluster of DRRMO, said Tuesday they will be on full alert from Thursday to Sunday.

He said two DRRMO teams will be deployed to monitor the procession along San Sebastian Cathedral on Thursday.

Aside from DRRMO personnel, he added that about 1,000 rescue volunteer groups will also be deployed in various beach resorts and swimming pools on Sunday.

Vargas noted the rescue team will concentrate in the beach resorts along barangays Pahanocoy, Pta. Taytay, Bredco Port Reclemation Area, Banago, and in Barangay 35.

Vargas said most of the resorts already complied with the City Ordinance 749 or the hiring of certified lifeguards.

“Our resort owners and similar businesses should have their certified lifeguards to ensure the safety of resorts and beachgoers especially, this Holy Week,” he said.

Vargas reminded the church goers as well as beach goers to be vigilant to avoid untoward incidents.
