WILL the Bacolod City General Hospital be constructed in Barangay Vista Alegre?

Bacolod Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya said the City Government is now finalizing the donation of the lot in Barangay Vista Alegre, which they eyed as the site of the hospital.

Gasataya said he already talked with City Legal Office Joselito Bayatan, who was tasked by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to process the deed of donation.

"There's no problem if the lot will be donated to the city government, what is important is that the city's hospital will be constructed," he said.

Despite “cutting ties” with Gasataya, Leonardia earlier assured the public that it will not affect the construction of the city’s hospital as he stressed that they will work for it regardless of the political circumstances.

Leonardia said they eye a bigger lot that will not just be for the hospital alone but also for the new site of the City Health Office (CHO).

The mayor said they visualize the new site of the CHO to have essential facilities like that for dialysis, among others.

On June 24, 2021, President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act 11564, creating the Bacolod City General Hospital and appropriating funds for its establishment.

Gasataya authored the House bill at the House of Representatives while its counterpart in the Senate was sponsored by Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.
