THE national government has allocated a total of P46 million for the construction of three satellite markets in Bacolod City.

Congressman Greg Gasataya said Monday, February 10, that during the budget hearing last year, he proposed to fund for the renovation and construction of three satellite markets in Bacolod.

These include the renovation of villages Granada and Sum-ag public markets, and the construction of Banago village public market.

Gasataya said the implementation of these projects will start in March or April this year.

“We want to renovate and to have more satellite markets to decongest the Burgos, Libertad and Central public markets and to help the economy of the barangays,” he said.

He added that this year, the national government allotted a total of P1.5 billion worth of projects for Bacolod City.

This year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will also rehabilitate the roads and drainage around Shopping Center to address the flood problem in the area as well as in B.S Aquino Drive.

Gasataya said the DPWH will construct the roads and drainage from Hilado-Burgos streets going to Huaming and Narra Street.

He said the DPWH will also improve the street lights systems in said areas. (MAP)
