THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) commended a commissioned officer and a non-commissioned officer for their heroic acts that led to the arrest of a murder suspect in Bacolod City last week.

Police Lieutenant Ma. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of BCPO, said BCPO Director Colonel Manuel Placido commended the heroic acts of Lieutenant Roque Gimeno III and Patrolman John Ray Ortega, both assigned at the Bacolod City Mobile Force Company (BCMFC).

She said Gimeno, Ortega and their team were about to serve the arrest warrant to Limuel Talaman, 34, of Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport for the crime of murder in said barangay on February 11.

While operatives were informing the suspect’s constitutional rights, she added Talaman pulled his improvised firearm and tried to shoot the police.

Ortega tried to disarm the suspect, but he was shot on his left arm. The operative managed to subdue Talaman and was arrested.

Police recovered from Talaman’s possession an improvised firearm.

Indiape said Ortega was brought to a hospital while the suspect was already endorsed to the custodial facility of Police Station 8.

BCPO and the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas already extended financial aid to the police officer.
