THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has formed a special investigation task group to probe the murder of the general manager of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) at 16th Lacson Street, Barangay 7, in the city on Wednesday, December 21.

Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, spokesperson of BCPO, said Friday, December 23, the task group will lead the investigation on the murder of Atty. Danny Pondevilla, a resident of Providencia Subdivision, Barangay Mansilingan.

He said the task group members include the BCPO’s Investigation and Detection Management Unit (IDMU), City Intelligence Unit (CIU), and Police Station 2.

Investigation showed that Pondevilla was inside his vehicle when unidentified assailants on board a motorcycle fired at him. He sustained a gunshot wound to the back portion of his head and died on the spot.

Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, commander of Police Station 2, earlier said they are looking at work or love triangle as possible motives for the killing of Pondevilla.

Pastrana said Pondevilla, who attended a Christmas party near the area, was about to go home with his co-worker, whose name was withheld.

Pondevilla, who was allegedly under the influence of intoxicating liquor, parked his car at 16th Lacson Street when he was attacked by the unidentified assailants.

Pondevilla's co-worker reported the incident to the police station hours after the incident.

The victim's co-worker and a male person who went to the area underwent a paraffin test Wednesday, but the results released on Thursday, December 22, were negative for gunpowder residue, Gabana said.

Gabana said the two persons of interest are still part of the investigation.

“We are still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the identity of the assailants and to give justice to the family of the victim,” he said.
