Bacolod police net P23.4M worth of drugs in six months

AROUND P23.4 million worth of illegal drugs was seized by the anti-drug operations of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) from January to June 20 this year.

Police Major Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Thursday from January to June 20, BCPO conducted a total 290 operations that led to the arrest of 451 drug personalities.

He said BCPO seized a total of 1,387.707 grams of “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride, with a street value of P20,815,605, and 11.3635 grams of marijuana, with market value of P2,613,605.

Of the 451 drug personalities arrested, 66 were high-value target, 50 street level target, and 335 newly-identified drug suspects.

For the same period, BCPO also filed a total of 719 cases against the drug suspects.

BCPO acting director Police Colonel Henry Binas earlier directed all the station commanders to step up their operations against illegal drugs.

Pico said the 10 police stations were required to conduct at least one operation against illegal drugs every week.

He said that those with zero accomplishment will be subjected for reshuffling upon the assessment of the BCPO chief.
