Bacolod to inspect facilities at Old City Hall

Merlinda A. Pedrosa

THE City Government of Bacolod will inspect and evaluate all the facilities at the Old City Hall on Luzuriaga Street, City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

Maghari said he will deploy a team to evaluate the facilities at the Old City Hall, especially its comfort room, which allegedly has no doors.

This was after a concerned citizen took a photo of the comfort room on the ground floor of the building, which has no doors. The two cubicles were covered only with a curtain.

"We will send an engineering team to evaluate the facilities. We should have decent and workable bathrooms in the area. We will act on it," Maghari said.

He said the building in-charge should also inform the City Mayor’s Office if they have a problem with their facilities so they can address it immediately, adding that the personnel in-charge at the Old City Hall did not inform the CMO.

Maghari said they will require all the departments to submit a report to determine the situation of their facilities, equipment or vehicles.

"If they have a problematic facility or equipment, they should inform us so that we can find ways to address the problem," Maghari said.

THREAT. According to a Capitol consultant, the Cebu City Government is threatening to shut down the Cebu North Bus Terminal at the back of SM City Cebu (left) and the Cebu South Bus Terminal along N. Bacalso Ave. for operating without a business permit. The Province, which runs both terminals, maintains that it operates the facilities as a public service for passengers going to the province and vice versa. /
