THE Bacolod City "You and Me sa 2023" mass wedding will be held on March 11 at 2 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Friday, March 3, 2023.

Benitez, who solemnized the wedding of at least 28 couples Friday at the BCGC, said it’s already the final date for the 2,023 couples to tie the knot.

He said the 28 couples, who joined the special mass wedding, were part of the 2,074 couples who were registered by the City Civil Registrar Office.

"We held the special mass wedding because they were already prepared, and some of them are in the final trimester to give birth," he added.

The mayor noted that on March 11, they will stick to 2,023 couples only to coincide with the year 2023, and those who will not be accommodated can join in the next mass wedding activity of the city.

The original schedule of the mass wedding was on February 14. It was rescheduled for March 3, then moved to March 11.

Benitez said First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos already confirmed her attendance for the ceremony, and they are still waiting for the confirmation of other guests, including President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

He added the city can no longer participate in the Guinness World Records for the most number of couples to tie the knot in a single-venue mass wedding due to lack of time for the validation by the Guinness World Records team.

The mayor disclosed that the mass wedding will be held at the BCGC’s grounds.
