Barangay 8 hall to be relocated

THE Barangay 8 hall in Bacolod City is set to be relocated to the city government-owned lot along the reclamation area in the city.

City Fire Marshal Publio Ploteña said Monday, August 12, the city government already identified the area so the officials of Barangay 8 can transfer as soon as possible.

The lot, where the barangay hall is situated, is owned by the Provincial Government and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is planning to rehabilitate its building.

In 2018, the BFP also asked the officials of Barangay 8 including the owners of 17 houses to vacate their structures near the BFP building because they will use the area.

Ploteña said they need more space so they can park their fire trucks properly.

He said he already informed the officials of Barangay 8 that the city government will assist them for their new village hall.

He added that based on the deed of donation, it stated that the area is exclusively used for BFP and the plan is now at the national headquarters.

Last year, village chief Joanna Magalona also admitted that they received a letter from the regional office of the BFP that they will demolish the structures situated near the BFP-Bacolod building.

Barangay 8 is occupying the area for almost 20 years.

Ploteña said some of the residents already demolished their houses and they were assisted by the city government for their relocation.

“We need the cooperation of everybody so we can start to transfer the village hall of Barangay 8,” he said. (MAP)
