THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement a truck ban in the Circumferential Road and other major roads in the city on October 26 and 28.

Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said Tuesday, October 23, they will strictly enforce a truck ban on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 4 p.m to 7 p.m.

“We know that we do not have a truck ban every Saturday and Sunday, but we will strictly enforce this during the highlights of the MassKara Festival,” he said.

He added the trucks including those transporting sugarcane will be temporarily stopped in the areas of Mansilingan Road and at the boundary of Talisay-Bacolod road.

Acebuche noted that based on City Ordinance 338, or the Comprehensive Traffic Ordinance, which include establishing the route system of Public Utility Vehicles (PUVS) and trucks, and redefining the loading and unloading zones in the city, it exempts Saturday and Sunday, but because of the MassKara Festival BTAO has also a power to implement it.

Acebuche said the erring drivers will be fined of P1,000 with confiscation of driver’s license and there will be no exemption.

“We will only allow the trucks to travel from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., but it will depend on the situation at the Government Center,” he said.

He added several traffic enforcers will be deployed to various areas to arrest the erring drivers. (MAP)
