CHIEF Superintendent John Bulalacao was named officer-in-charge of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) effective June 1.

This was confirmed by Superintendent Joem Malong, public information officer of PRO-6, in a text message to the media on Friday.

Bulalacao took over the post of Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, who was transferred to the Directorate for Information and Communications at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters.

Binag, who served as head of the regional headquarters for one year, replaced Director Napoleon Taas, who will be transferred to the office of the PNP chief.

Senior Superintendent Benigno Durana assumed Bulalacao’s post as PNP spokesperson.

Director General Oscar Albayalde, PNP chief, ordered the reshuffling of several top officials nationwide based on their performances.

Meanwhile, the national headquarters also ordered the relief of Superintendent Nasruddin Tayuan from PRO-6 effective May 28.

Tayuan as head of the Intelligence Unit of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) was transferred to PRO-12 in General Santos City.

Superintendent Julie Cabrera took over Tayuan’s post at the BCPO on concurrent capacity. Cabrera is also the head of the Mobile Patrol Unit of BCPO.

Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, public information officer of BCPO, said there has been no reason given yet as a basis for Tayuan’s relief.

On the other hand, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Western Visayas also relieved some key officials in provincial and city jails effective yesterday, following the recent confiscation of contrabands at the Iloilo District Jail (IDJ) in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo.

Superintendent Larry Fuentes of the Metro Bacolod District Jail - Special Intensive Care Area (MBDJ-Sica) was reassigned to ICDJ, replacing Superintendent Vicente Papelera.

Chief Inspector Ruth Estales, administrator of the Negros Occidental provincial jail, was moved to MBDJ-Sica, while Jail Senior Inspector Jimmy Britanico took over her post at the provincial jail. (GYM)
