A WOMAN was seriously injured after she was allegedly sideswiped by a bus along 15th Lacson Street in Barangay 7, Bacolod City Friday morning, July 13.

Inspector Florentino Abalayan, deputy chief of Police Station 2, identified the victim as Mary Joy Gestat, 40, of Barangay Tangub.

Abalayan said the victim was on her way to a computer shop when she was hit by the First Farmers bus driven by Ramil Nepomuceno, 48, of Talisay City.

Nepomuceno fetched some passengers from Lacson Street to supposedly send them to their workplace in Talisay City.

However, when the bus was already moving, he heard a loud sound, prompting him to stop.

Nepomuceno then discovered that he sideswiped Gestat, who was found under the rear portion of the vehicle.

Abalayan said Gestat may have collapsed while the bus was moving. Nepomuceno and the bus passengers were unharmed.

It took 20 minutes for the rescuers to remove Gestat under the vehicle. She sustained injuries on her right hand and leg and was brought to a hospital.

Abalayan said the bus driver is detained at the station. He said the driver's company already assured the victim assistance.

It is not yet known if the victim will pursue charges against the bus driver.
