Capitol allots P56M for fight against Covid in 2021 budget

Teresa D. Ellera

THE Provincial Government has allotted a total of P56 million in the proposed 2021 budget for the fight against coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said of the total amount, P36 million will go for the purchase of Covid-19 test kits and P20 million for the operation of quarantine facilities.

Diaz said while the Department of Health (DOH) provides Negros Occidental with Covid-19 test kits, additional funds have been set aside for its purchase as part of efforts to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

However, he said the Provincial Government has not allocated funds for possible Covid-19 vaccines next year.

It is not certain when such vaccines will be available, he pointed out.
