GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson revealed Monday, March 23, of his plans to give out assistance to poor Negrenses whose livelihood are affected by the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19)

Lacson said he has tasked the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) to do an inventory.

The local government units (LGUs) are also doing their respective inventories, he said.

“We will have to take care of our constituents at this time,” Lacson said.

The governor added that under the proposed emergency powers bill discussed by the Congress, the national government is allocating P1.6 billion.

“I suppose some Negrenses will benefit from that,”Lacaon said.

He added that LGUs in the province should have a game plan on how to help their constituents.

The private sector is also helping out while many businesses in Negros have closed shop and taking care of their employees for at least a month, he said.

Lacson also confirmed that the four Chinese Chamber of Commerce in the province have committed to help their respective employees.

“I hope that after a month things would be normalized,” he said.

Lacson called on Negrenses to continue to pray that Covid-19 will not wreak havoc on our country especially in Negros Occidental.
