Capitol hails Diaz, eyes to strengthen weightlifting program in NegOcc

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson hails the winning of Hidilyn Diaz of the first Gold medal in the Olympics and that the provincial government is eyeing to strengthen the weightlifting program in the province.

Lacson said the victory of Diaz should serve as an inspiration to future athletes.

Atty, Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial administrator meanwhile revealed that Former Mayor Monico Puentebella who is also the President of Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas before going to the Olympics in Japan, has delivered state of the art weights at the Panaad Stadium at the DRRM Office and it is being utilized.

" With the success of Diaz we hope to build more careers in weightlifting. We can win gold. We share the happiness of the whole country with the victory of Hidilyn Diaz," Atty. Diaz said.

He also revealed that when Puentebella comes back, the province will come up with more programs on weightlifting. (TDE)
