ACTING Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea bared on November 14, the plans of the province to rehabilitate the Panaad Park and Stadium, especially its oval.

Gelvolea said that Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has already instructed Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa to conduct an ocular inspection on the stadium to determine which part needs repair.

Partially, it was revealed that the rubber at the oval needs to be changed.

Gelvolea explained that the organizers of sports event, especially private events, pay the Provincial Government to cover the electricity and water usage.

“We have to do this to make Panaad Stadium more competitive especially that it is has been home of international football competitions,” Gelvolea said.

She revealed such plans after complaints reached her office about the cleanliness of the stadium that was noticed during the recently held Suzuki Cup, which was won by the Philippine Azkals.

She said they will bring up the concern to the officer in charge of the stadium.
