BACOLOD City Councilor Cindy Rojas urged the City Health Office (CHO) to intensify its information and education campaign in observance of the National Lung Month this August 2019.

Rojas, who authored a resolution which was approved last week, said that the CHO is the implementing arm of the Bacolod City in ensuring that Bacolodnons are accorded with the benefit of having a dynamic and responsive healthcare program.

“Our lungs are indeed very important and it is susceptible to many diseases. Luckily for us, these illnesses and ailments are quite easy to avoid provided that the person adopts a healthy lifestyle,” she said.

Rojas noted that the month of August was declared as National Lung Month in the Philippines through the Presidential Proclamation No. 1761 signed by former President Ferdinand Marcos on July 24, 1978.

Rojas said Republic Act 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991, provides that every local government unit shall exercise the powers expressly granted, those necessarily implied therefrom, and those which are essential to the promotion of the general welfare. (MAP)
