City asks BFP to allocate lot for Barangay 8 hall

THE Bacolod City Council is requesting the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod to allocate a lot from their property for the village hall of Barangay 8.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen.

Gonzales-Pallen said the officials of Barangay 8 are seeking the assistance of the City Council for the relocation of their barangay hall.

The lot, where the barangay hall is situated, is owned by the Provincial Government and the BFP is planning to rehabilitate its building, so it is requesting the officials to vacate, including the 18 houses in the area.

City Fire Marshal Publio Plotena earlier said that officials of Barangay 8 can still make an appeal to the BFP-Western Visayas so their village hall will not be demolished.

Plotena said he is only representing the BFP and he cannot decide on their status in the area.

“It will be the regional director or the legal department that can make a decision,” he said.

He added that based on the deed of donation, it stated that the area is exclusively used for BFP and the plan is now at the national headquarters. (MAP)
