Clean-up drive held in Tinagong Dagat

Sunnexdesk

TINAGONG Dagat in Silay City is considered one of the popular ecotourism destinations in the Northern Negros Natural Park (NNNP). One of its disadvantages, however, is the garbage left by irresponsible visitors who trekked the area. On April 14, volunteers from various sectors joined the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-NNNP clean-up drive activity at Tinagong Dagat due to irresponsible mountaineering practices, improper waste disposal and presence of illegal climbers in the area. The activity aims to maintain the cleanliness and natural state of the ecosystem in the ecotourism site destinations in NNNP. The group of volunteers collected more than 100 kilos of various garbage, mostly plastic, cans and empty bottled containers. (PR)
