LOCAL coalition Grupo Progreso (GP) has requested the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to allow the presence of their watchers during the ongoing voters’ registration in Bacolod City, a statement from the group said Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

“Your accommodation of the watchers is a step towards preserving the integrity of the voters’ registration list,” Bacolod Mayor and GP Convenor Evelio Leonardia said in a letter he sent to Comelec on September 14.

The GP cited Comelec Resolution No. 10549 dated July 18, 2019 to support its request for the accommodation of the poll watchers.

The GP is an aggrupation of several political parties in Bacolod City, including Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, Nationalist People’s Coalition and Nacionalista Party.

Registration of voters for the 2022 national elections will end on September 30, 2021. (PR)
