Comelec releases calendar of activities for 2019 polls

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released the calendar of activities for the 2019 elections.

The election period will be from January 13, 2019, to June 12, 2019.

Election day is set on May 13, 2019.

The campaign period for candidates for senator and party-list groups will start from February 12 to May 11 next year.

Political campaigning is banned on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

The campaign period for candidates for the House of Representatives, provincial, city and municipal positions will start from March 30 to May 11.

A gun ban will be enforced for the entire election period from January 13 to June 12. The liquor ban will be from May 12 to 13.

The filing of the candidacy is from October 11 to 17.

Meanwhile, the poll office is reminding the candidates to secure and prepare their respective Certificate of Candidacy (COC) early to avoid problems.

Comelec Provincial Supervisor Jessie Suarez said that COC forms could are available in the local poll offices and could be downloaded from the official website of Comelec.

He also reminded the candidates to make sure that their COCs have the required documentary stamps and that Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance of their respective political parties.
